Thailand
Most nationalities do not require any visa for stays of up to 30 days. Tourist visas permit stays of up to 60 days and are obtainable from Thai embassies and consulates. For full details, contact your nearest Thai embassy or consulate. Visitors can come to Thailand on a tourist visa for a maximum of 90 days.
After their first 30 days, many tourists and international volunteers cross the border to Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia or Burma to get another 30 days permission to stay in Thailand. Overstaying a couple of days is not a problem but you pay a 500 Baht fine per day you overstay. OpenmindProjects may help you with a special visa application if you want.
Laos
You need a visa to enter Laos. Tourist visas permit stays of up to one month obtainable in Bangkok, Nong Khai or at the borders. The visa costs approximately USD30 or 1500 Baht, depending on your nationality. For full details, contact your nearest Laos embassy. International volunteers normally travel with a tourist visa. The placement in Laos can help volunteers to prolong their visa.
